The pool swim

A counted pool swim at White Oaks Leisure Centre — 16 lengths (400m) for the Sprint and Aqua Bike, 32 lengths (800m) for the Standard. You'll share a lane, so a little etiquette goes a long way.

Sprint · 400m · 16 lengths Standard · 800m · 32 lengths
  • Arrive on poolside at least 10 minutes before your allocated swim slot — the swim marshal will direct you into the pool and count you in.
  • Start times are strictly observed. Running late? The Event Director will try to find you a vacant slot, or you'll be back-ended.
  • Read the pool etiquette sheet while you wait — even if you're a regular triathlete.
  • Let faster swimmers past when appropriate. To overtake, a gentle tap on the feet ahead asks them to pause at the end of the lane.
  • When you've finished, exit the water and follow the marshals to transition — cross the timing mat to activate your chip.
Leg two · Bike

The bike loop

An 11km anticlockwise loop from White Oak through Hextable, Wilmington and Hook Green, back past Birchwood Park — moderately undulating urban terrain. Two laps (22km) for the Sprint and Aqua Bike, four (44km) for the Standard.

Sprint · 22km · 2 laps Standard · 44km · 4 laps
  • Helmet on and fastened before you un-rack your bike, and walk it to the mount line — no riding in transition.
  • Follow the race signs — black arrows on a yellow background — and the marshals along the route.
  • The roads are open to traffic: obey the Highway Code and give way when required. Failing to means disqualification.
  • The 12-metre drafting rule applies.
  • Nothing that impedes your hearing — earphones, headphones or phones — at any time during the race.

The Swanley Park run

A scenic lap circuit almost entirely inside Swanley Park — two laps (approx. 5km) for the Sprint, four laps (approx. 10km) for the Standard.

Sprint · 5km · 2 laps Standard · 10km · 4 laps
  • You'll collect a wristband for every completed lap — so you start your final lap holding one band in the Sprint, or three in the Standard.
  • Water is available at the band station, near the park exit.
  • Keep count with your bands and enjoy the park — the finish line isn't far.
One more thing

Look after each other

The whole event is delivered by club volunteers. Marshals and officials are there to assist with your safety — please listen to their instructions and treat them with respect. Any verbal abuse of officials means instant disqualification. Their ruling is final.
